The All-Time Greatest Letter To The Editor

From today's Post-Standard (Syracuse, NY):

Kerry campaign disrupted early success in Iraq

To the Editor:

As I look at the political hate cartoons (March 25), one reminds me that the Iraqis were throwing flowers at our troops, dancing in the streets and pulling down statues of Saddam until J.F. Kerry started campaigning, calling Bush a liar, telling the world that this was the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time; the "W" War.

I believe if it had not been for the benevolent J.F. Kerry, we would have been out two long years and 2,000 deaths ago.

Wait, he's from Mexico. Shouldn't Bush have kicked him out already?

Not sure if the condition of the letter is a little editorializing on the part of the Post-Standard or whether Steve slept, with the note in his front pocket, for a week.

"Throwing flowers at our troops!"

Yes, indeed. I'm sure ALL the florists in Bagdad were open the day we rolled into the city. Those who couldn't afford to buy flowers went out and PICKED them, I'm sure.

"Pulling down statues of Saddam."

Of course.

A bunch of 'em got their tanks out of their garages and drove downtown, stopping at the all-night Bagdad Ace Hardware store for a length of chain.

Bless your heart, some rubes'll buy anything.

NO, THIS IS WAY WAY FUNNIER:

Charlie Sheen described his immediate skepticism regarding the official reason for the collapse of the twin towers and building 7 on the day of 9/11.

"I was up early and we were gonna do a pre-shoot on Spin City, the show I used to do, I was watching the news and the north tower was burning. I saw the south tower hit live, that famous wide shot where it disappears behind the building and then we see the tremendous fireball."

"There was a feeling, it just didn't look any commercial jetliner I've flown on any time in my life and then when the buildings came down later on that day I said to my brother 'call me insane, but did it sorta look like those buildings came down in a controlled demolition'?"

Amusing, the very idea that Kerry could ever have that much influence over anything, let alone a war.

Don't any of you mock or belittle Charlie Sheen. That man rolled up his sleeves and saved Spin City when Michael J. Fox was disagnosed with a horrible disease.

Or don't you care about people with horrible diseases?
