The blogs I've seen aren't "red-faced" at the slight itself, but rather Dougherty and Harris's dimwitted attempts to explain it.
The dimwitted right wing blogs needed a new meme to froth about when it became obvious that Superman wasn't, in fact, gay.
Well, whatever keeps them busy -- idle hands and all that.

Truth and justice should cover everything. Doesn't the "American Way" mostly mean truth and justice?
It should.
Are Dougherty and Harris the screen writers? I saw the movie and, yes, they are dimwits. But the right-wing blogs will make a big deal out of everything, always concerned about conservative political correctness and conservative "feelings." Witness the right-wing whining over the NY Times Travel piece about Cheney and Rumsfeld's vacation homes in Maryland. Or the fundamentalists with their panties in a twist because some faith-based football movie got a PG instead of a G rating. Or ... pretty much anything conservatives rant and rave about. (HOW TERRIBLE! THEY'RE TRANSLATING THE "STAR-SPANGLED BANNER" INTO SPANISH! WILL THE REPUBLIC SURVIVE?)
