Yankee Pitcher Cory Lidle Crashes Plane Into NYC Building

Unbelievable. I know you're all expecting something ghoulish from me, so here goes. If you go to WFAN.com right now, before they take it down, you'll find a Real Player file of a Monday interview with Lidle. Mike and the Mad Dog had been ragging on the pitcher for publicly implying his manager cost them the series, and he called in, upset.

What a gruesome, awful story this was today for New Yorkers.

I apologize for suggesting that the Yankees should be blown up. I was speaking metaphorically.

Also, I was not near the crash site or point of takeoff. I have an alibi who can place me elsewhere at the time of the accident.

This makes me question the Abreu deal.

If Arod had hit in the playoffs, Lidle might still be alive.

Holy crap -- I just got around to listening to the clip you posted, and it's not at all what I expected.

Boy, that Mad Mook and Doug sure told off Lidle good, on behalf of retarded Yankees fans everywhere. Hooray for them. I bet they're sleeping well tonight, after fighting the good fight like that.

You're right, Peter. They really preened for their listeners at Lidle's expense. I listened for a while to today's show, and it sounded like they knew what they'd done, but couldn't quite admit it outright.

If Arod had gotten a hit in the first inning of game two, with the bases loaded and two outs, Lidle would have been pitching yesterday.

But he struck out. And now his friend is dead.

Well, I'm glad you let your el duque persona do the gallows humor this time, Tom. We NY'ers are definitely a bit shaken up after hearing phrases like "low-flying plane" and "the 11th" again...

George ready to declare a Yankee "no-fly zone"!
